Celebrating 30 Years of Service To Industry

2024 marks a big milestone for Applied Radiators as it is our 30th Year of business.


Back in December of 1994, Applied Radiators was formed by Keith McAuliffe and Alan Leese to supply goods & services to the automotive & commercial vehicle industry.


In those initial years of trading, good customer relations were built up in the local area, many of which still stand today. Our customer base started to expand, especially to the east of Stoke, and in the late 1990’s we opened a second depot in Swadlincote. In November 2009 we relocated our Swadlincote depot to nearby Burton Upon Trent and this enabled us to have improved access to the A38 / A50 corridors, as well as increasing our stock range and storage capabilities. 

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our Burton depot was closed for 2 years from the start of lockdown and our Burton team members worked from home. All operations were then carried out from our head office in Stoke and the service provided to our clients in the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire areas were unaffected. Due to this, and also investment made at our head office, we closed the doors to our Burton depot in 2022 for the last time. However, to ensure that we continued to provide the services expected by our clients from those areas, we retained our Burton depot staff members and they continue to work from home.

To provide the best possible service for our clients, we have continually invested in our main Stoke depot. Over the years we have increased our warehouse & workshop space with the addition of 2 extra units, as well as investing in a policy of development of staff skills, machinery & tooling. Continual investment in our fleet of vehicles has also been a priority as we know that reliable vehicles are key to the service that we provide.


Our normal day to day operations now see our drivers cover a radius of around 50 miles from our Stoke-On-Trent depot. For our Heavy Industry clients, we also cover the whole of the UK and our Iveco Daily flatbed regularly travels long distances on our Motorways & Dual Carriageways.

We've remained committed to supporting the Commercial Vehicle Industry and we stock the largest range of Commercial Vehicle Radiators, Intercoolers & Condensers of any independent radiator shop in the country. 

Although we have Radiators in our name, our policy of continued expansion has seen our products & services grow from cooling & heat transfer to a wide and varied range including Exhaust cleaning (including DPF, DOC & SCR’s), Tank cleaning & repair (Diesel, Hydraulic & Ad Blue), Propshafts, Turbos, Steering Boxes & Pumps, Hydraulic Ram Repairs and Road Springs.

The sectors we serve has also grown from the Automotive & Commercial Industries as we now provide the majority of our our goods & services to the Off Highway & Heavy Plant, Industrial & Power Generation, Agricultural & Groundwork, Offshore & Marine, and the Rail & Traction sectors.


We are also immensely proud of our ISO9001:2015 accreditation and we are an approved supplier to a number of large Multi-National companies.

At Applied Radiators we are also proud to play our part in keeping our nations Motoring & Transport history alive. Our specialist workshop team have repaired, refurbished and re-cored countless Radiators and Heater Matrix's over the past 30 years for Classic Cars, Vans and Trucks.

It's not just road vehicle radiators that we cater for though as we've given the same treatment to the radiators of vintage tractors & plant machinery. We are also specialists in the repair & refurbishment of heritage Locomotive cooling system components.

So, in light of this period in our history, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has made this milestone possible, from our previous & current owners, all of our former & current staff members, our suppliers, and most of all, to each and every one of our clients & customers.

Vacancy - Workshop Operative

We are on the lookout for a new staff member to join our workshop team, details as follows. Job Title: Workshop Operative Location: Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent. Salary: TBD. Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08.30 to 17.00. Contract: Permanent (Following successful 3-month trial period). Diagnose: Cleaning & testing of Radiators, Intercoolers, Oil Coolers, etc. Repair: Soldering, Re-Coring, Re-Sealing, Welding. Assemble: Rebuilding of Oil Coolers, Radiators, Intercoolers. With the advent of the warmer months, reliable vehicle air conditioning becomes essential to keep the driver cool & maintain comfort behind the wheel. Proper maintenance of the air-con system helps to avoid sudden breakdowns during peak heat. However, as with any vehicle component, parts do eventually fail & they will need replacing. When replacing worn out or failed components it is vital that the correct procedures are followed, ensuring that the system operates efficiently & effectively. When replacing the compressor, it is essential to follow the manufacturers guidelines as failure to do so will invalidate any warranty!
